1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL

This rust- and accident-free 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL was given a full ground-up restoration at SV Auto.

Body & Paint

The car was fully disassembled and mounted on a jig before being refinished in its original Olive Green paint. Every panel was carefully restored to factory spec, ensuring a flawless finish true to the period.

Engine & Drivetrain

The engine underwent a complete rebuild with new pistons, cam, valves, bearings, a rebuilt mechanical fuel-injection pump, and new injectors. All aluminum components were vapor-honed to restore the original “cast” appearance.
The automatic transmission was also rebuilt, with vapor-honed cases, zinc-plated hardware, and a powder-coated oil pan.

Suspension & Rear Axle

The front subframe and suspension components were powder coated and reassembled in a purpose-built jig, with every wear item replaced. The rear axle received the same attention, rebuilt with new bearings and bushings for reliability and performance.

Interior & Top

The Parchment leather interior was completely redone, including leather-covered dash and seats. The hard top was fully restored with new wood, headliner, and rubber seals, giving it a fresh-from-the-factory look.

Finishing Touches

A stainless-steel exhaust delivers a crisp, throaty note that perfectly complements the rebuilt drivetrain. From the first turn of the key, the car runs and drives like new.

Our Passion

At SV Auto, we’ve restored many Mercedes W113 models over the years. While our core focus is air-cooled Porsches, we have a true passion for classic Mercedes—especially the timeless W113 and W111 series. Our goal is always the same: to return these cars as close as possible to how they left the factory.
